Well anyways this film has also been one of my cult favorites from many late night viewings.

The only true possible connection to the Filipino films could have been the director as Eddie Romero (who directed the three Filipino films on this set) was the original choice to direct the movie but due to prior commitments was unable to do so. Now according to the package of this wonderful BLOOD ISLAND VACATION Set the US film (BRAIN OF BLOOD) by Al Adamson & Sam Sherman is supposedly mistaken by some as being a Filipino production well I dont see how that could happen first their arent any Filipino actors here and the action is taking place in the US and even though as the box set mentions the filmmakers avoided Los Angeles area landmarks one can clearly notice the locales are American (LA) and not Filipino. My only problem with BOB is there arent enough horror scenes with the beast as the film becomes primarily an action films with gunfire and explosions as the American hero and the island natives search out the Mad Doctors hideout and battle his mercenary goons. BEAST OF BLOOD was probably the first Filipino film I ever saw as it would be broadcast quite a bit in the late 70s and early 80s and I absolutely love the opening scene were the beast battles the boats crew which is a direct conclusion to THE MAD DOCTOR OF BLOOD ISLAND. This was the first time viewing of both BRIDES OF BLOOD and THE MAD DOCTOR OF BLOOD ISLAND for me and was quite pleasantly surprise by the gore (especially BOB which has to be one of goriest films from the 1960s) and the nudity on both films not to mention both were quite enjoyable movies.
